Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders

Whoa, Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders! I still can’t believe that I was able to get all of this juicy goodness into a slider! This is the perfect slider and what makes it amazing is that you can make it the way you want to. This slider is so customizable, and you can add whatever toppings you love to have on your burger. Rather it be a juicy tomato, a fresh cut white onion, mustard, or BBQ sauce the world is pickle boo! (get it – pickle, burger topping – haha!)

On my scrumptious Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders, I decided to enjoy some of the fancier toppings such as caramelized onions, bread and butter pickles, and a Copycat Big Mac Sauce that I can promise you taste like the real thing! Oh yea, I also had some crispy pieces of bacon on that bad boy, who can say no to that?

I love a good smear of caramelized onions on top of a juicy burger. And to get awesome caramelization, you must first have an awesome pan! I love to use my cast iron skillet because it gives the perfect amount of heat and whatever you put in it will most definitely come out with flavor! My secret to good caramelized onions is placing the onions in one layer (pictured below!) and leaving them there without touching for 3-4 minutes at a time. The onions get direct heat from that pan and baby when you take them out it’ll be caramelization heaven.

Cast iron skillets are the best, I mean for real y’all! After I caramelized the onions, I didn’t wash that pan – that’s right! We need to keep all of that flavor that came from the onions in the pan to cook up our burgers! I love a good juicy, but well done burger! (I know, sue me!) Although I love me a good medium, medium rare steak, I just haven’t been able to get with the under-cooked ground beef! Pray for me y’all I’m working on it.

But no fear, if you shy away from medium rare burgers and go for the well done like me I’ve got you covered. For juicy well done burgers like these, add a little ketchup into the ground beef! I know right! Cook for 4 minutes per side and boom juicy well done burgers!

Your entire family will rave over these Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders, and the fact that you were able to fit all of this deliciousness into a teensy weensy slider is – I mean quite amazing! The perfect combo small in size, but packing with the flavor!

 

Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders

 

Ingredients:
1 pack of bacon, cut in ½ Caramelized onions:
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp white sugar
3 tbs vegetable oil
2 tbs water Copycat Big Mac Sauce:
½ cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbs yellow mustard
3 tbs sweet relish
3 tsp white sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
¼ tsp vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste Burgers:
2 – 2 ½  lbs. ground beef
½ cup ketchup
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp paprika
1 tbs oil to fry
Salt and pepper to taste

 

Toppings:
Shredded Lettuce
Bread & Butter Pickles
Hawaiian Rolls (Savory Butter)
Butter and sesame seeds (optional)

 

Bacon Double Cheeseburger Sliders

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Cut bacon strips in half. Fold bacon strips and place on baking pan. Cook for 25-30 minutes or until crispy. Remove when done.
  2. In a pan, add in 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Place over medium high heat. add in chopped onions, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp white sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 12-15 minutes are until brown in color. Add in 2 tbs of water and let cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove onions when done.
  3. In a bowl, add in 1/3 cup ketchup, mustard, relish, 3 tsp white sugar, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, and 1 tsp onion powder. Mix together. Add in vinegar and salt and pepper to taste. Mix and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add in beef, ketchup, 2 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp onion powder, 2 tsp paprika, salt and pepper to taste. Mix ingredients together well. Form patties into small burgers (to fit whatever buns you choose). I formed my patties into squares and did about a ½ inch in thickness (see YouTube video for further explanation!)
  5. Add 1 tsp oil to a pan over medium high heat. Let oil sit for about 2 minutes to get hot. Add in patties (I cooked 3 at a time) and cook for 4 minutes on each side. Add cheese to burgers and let melt during the last 4 minutes of cooking. Remove when done.
  6. Cut Hawaiian rolls in half and toast.
  7. To assemble, spread copycat big mac sauce on bottom bun. Add lettuce, bacon, and two burger patties. Top with pickles. Add caramelized onions and big mac sauce onto top bun. Bring burger together. Brush tops with butter and add sesame seeds.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
